What Our Customers Say
"I just wanted to e-mail you and let you know how impressed I am with the quality of your product. I recently ordered a farm table base kit for a new dining table for my wife. I am an amateur woodworker, but after completing the table with your kit, I felt like a pro."

Hardware Finishes

In addition to the classic design of our cabinet hardware, one of the most important features is the fact that it is not lacquered. Why is this important? Because without a lacquer coating, the hardware develops a rich patina over time from being touched by
the human hand.
The cabinet hardware becomes more brightly burnished where it is touched, while simultaneously becoming darker and more oxidized in the crevices where the hardware remains untouched.
This contrast develops over time and is called patina. Patina makes antiques more valuable. Removing patina can ruin the value of antiques too.
Patina can add character and value to your furniture too. You can speed up the aging process, after installing the hardware, by very gently buffing the hardware with 0000 steel wool or a mildly abrasive polish. Polish very lightly, just to give the hardware the smallest glint of highlight. The rest remains darker and the hardware begins to show a richer more complex shine.

Hardware Finishes
A – Antique. The most popular hardware finish. Antique is a soft, brown finish, and has the patina of antique brass. It can be lightened with brass polish, or buffed off completely. It is a supremely versatile finish for cabinet hardware.
LA – Light Antique. is lighter than regular Antique but not so bright as to look new. The beautiful gold color shines through the soft antique brown.
DA – Dark Antique. Often called oil rubbed bronze in the hardware industry. Dark antique is very dark, and cabinet hardware with dark antique finish can seem almost black at times. As with all of our finishes, there is no lacquer and polishing can lighten the finish.
SB – Semi-bright. Brass hardware finished semi-bright has a smooth, satin look. It is bright in color but with subdued reflection. Semi-bright is achieved by polishing plain brass hardware with brush fibers as fine as human hair. Semi-bright is not lacquered, and will age nicely. The semi-bright finish is available at no additional charge.
B – Bright. The bright finish is a highly polished finish. The brass will be mirror like and brilliantly shiny. Owing to each piece of hardware being individually buffed just prior to shipping, there is a 20% surcharge when you order hardware in the bright finish. The bright finish is not lacquered, and will tone down with the passage of time.
PN – Polished Nickel. This hardware finish is brilliantly shiny, and very compatible with chrome kitchen and bath fixtures. Nickel is applied over the polished brass. The cabinet hardware is then re-polished to a high shine.
SN – Satin Nickel. Kitchens with satin stainless steel appliances need complimentary hardware. Satin nickel finish is the perfect choice. The brass hardware is first gently brushed. Nickel is then applied in layers as a topcoat. Finally, the nickel finished cabinet hardware is brushed to a soft silver luster.
