Hard Maple Shelves

Solid Hard Maple shelves made to your specifications that have been crafted from premium North American hard maple and tailored to fit your exact style and space. Known for its light color and ultra-smooth grain pattern, Hard Maple offers a fresh, clean look that complements kitchens, workspaces, studios, or any space where you desire long-lasting beauty and strength. This hardwood is naturally sturdy, giving your shelf a substantial feel whether you’re stacking books, dishes, or favorite décor.

Each shelf is carefully shaped and sanded to a smooth finish. Order it unfinished to apply your own finish, or choose our hand-applied Monocoat oil for understated protection and a soft, satin glow.

Why Choose Hard Maple?

  • Superior Hardness & Strength: Hard Maple’s dense structure provides outstanding resistance to dents and wear. This makes it the preferred wood for shelves that must withstand heavy abrasion, potted plants, kitchenware, records, or high-traffic use.
  • Clean, Consistent Appearance: Hard Maple boasts a light, uniform color and subtle grain, resulting in shelves that appear crisp, modern, and refined. Occasional delicate flecks or streaks add visual interest without overpowering minimalist designs.
  • Premium Finish Results: The tight grain and pale hue take oil finishes beautifully, resulting in a smooth, satin glow that highlights the wood’s natural elegance. Hard Maple resists yellowing and holds its fresh appearance longer than most woods.

Customize Your Shelf

Length

  • 12" to 90" (in 6" increments)

Thickness

  • 1" – classic profile, strong and refined
  • 1.25" – bold and rugged, for extra presence or load capacity

Depth

  • 5" to 11" in 2" increments

Pro Tip: Mock up shelf dimensions in your actual space. Finished shelves may appear visually larger than tape measurement estimates.

Edge Detail

  • Square (Slightly eased)

Corner Detail

  • Rounded corners: 2" radius (one end or both)
  • Full radius: radius matches shelf depths (outside corners only, away from wall)

Finishing

  • Yes, Add Monocoat (hand-rubbed oil finish)
  • No, Leave Unfinished (sanded and ready for your custom touch)

With every shelf, you decide which surface faces forward—showcasing the color, grain, or character that best suits your project. For shelves with radiused corners, the edge profile is set, but you still control which side of the shelf takes center stage in your installation. Subtle variations in each board are part of the beauty of real wood. Every shelf is unique, crafted to suit your vision and ready for a lifetime of use.

Unfinished or finished. You can order your base well-sanded without finish applied, or we can finish it for you using plant-based, non-toxic Monocoat Oil. This finish enhances the warmth and natural grain of the wood, is exceptionally durable and easy to care for. Read more about Monocoat Oil.
