This square wood column, designed for Arts & Crafts, Mission, and Craftsman style furniture, showcases fine lines, well balanced proportion and tastefully simple ornamentation. The shaft of the leg tapers subtly along the length, from bottom to top providing a unique and provocative silhouette. Turned on one of our vintage Mattison lathes, the beefy Morris column (used as a leg on this base) offers superior style, impeccable detailing, finely tuned craftsmanship and a bold stateliness. It makes a tasteful yet strong statement wherever it is positioned. When calculating the size of your base, be sure to allow for the table top's overhang.

Bases for traditional joinery use mortise and tenon construction, require glue, clamps and some DIY skill. This kind of base cannot be disassembled after gluing. Either system will result in a strong, rigid and durable table that will last for generations.

Aprons: 4, 4" high square aprons with tenons, cut to length, with pocket holes for mounting the top

Unfinished or finished. You can order your base well-sanded without finish applied, or we can finish it for you using plant-based, non-toxic Monocoat Natural Oil.
