WOODEN TABLE LEGS – The style of a table is determined by the style of the table leg. Please think about this for a minute. You can’t have a Queen Anne table without Queen Anne table legs, right? Nor would you put a Mid-Century Modern leg on a farmhouse style table. It’s the table legs that determine the style of the table, so think about the design effect you are trying to achieve with your table, and look for a leg that reinforces that effect.
Tablelegs.com features table leg designs originating from the 1700s up through the 1950s. Some leg designs are classics and some are modern. Leg styles in between are called transitional, and we have numerous transitional table leg designs, most of them exclusively available from us. You can find legs for dining tables, coffee tables, end stands and occasional tables too.
When planning a table project, especially a dining table project, you must consider several factors. Consider room size, number of people to be seated at the table, size of place settings, chair size and more. For an in-depth article about planning basics for

When choosing a leg for a table, also consider proportion. The ‘weight’ (thickness, diameter, etc) of the table leg must be in relation to the scale and size of the table you want to build. As the room size gets bigger, the size of the table gets bigger. As the size of the tabletop grows, the table leg size gets bigger and the detailing gets bolder to balance out the scale of the furniture in the bigger room. Ideally, the proportions of the chosen table leg will relate to the whole design concept for the room. If you are unsure about which ‘weight’ table leg to choose for a project, please know you are not alone. This happens all the time. Finally, it’s the small details that make a big difference in table leg design. Think about the “good, better, best” approach to merchandise quality at your local hardware or furniture store. It’s the same with wooden table legs from different manufacturers. There are big differences in the crispness of the details of the leg. Look for yourself. Are the turned sections well proportioned and crisply cut, or just sort of mushy and rounded about with little regard to craft? Which would you rather have – crisp detail and accurate styling, or is mush ok? We don’t do mush. Balance and crisp detail? We’ve got plenty!
